Associate Practitioner - Physical Activity
Do you have a genuine passion for supporting people living with obesity? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated band 4 Physical Activity Associate Practitioner to join our dynamic team within Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management.
The role will involve working with the Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to support patients to lose weight and improve their health and wellbeing. The role will involve assessing and providing tailored physical activity advice and support to patients who access the service. The Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management Physiotherapist will provide clinical support and supervision.
This is a rewarding and challenging post and the postholder should ideally have experience of supporting patients living with obesity and complex health conditions. The role will include identifying, demonstrating, and observing specific, tailored exercises to meet the needs of the patient. Excellent time management skills are an essential part of the role, as is the requirement for accurate record keeping within electronic patient records.
Main duties of the job
The ability to use a range of communication methods and behaviour change approaches are also key attributes required for the role. The postholder should also have a good understanding of the complexity of obesity and the challenges associated with obesity and physical activity.
You will be based in the vibrant, cultural city of Hull, which is continuing to thrive and grow after being awarded City of Culture in 2017. The post will be based at Marfleet Health Centre in Hull; however, the successful applicant will also be expected to work from various other bases across the city.

Qualifications
* Evidence of competencies appropriate to the job
* Relevant qualifications appropriate to the post
* Possession of relevant NVQ 3 qualification or equivalent health-related qualification
Knowledge
* Excellent verbal communication and listening skills with patients/colleagues/carers
* A good understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers, and their application to clinical and service areas e.g., Mental Capacity Act
* Understanding of rehabilitation concepts

Experience
* Previous experience as a therapy assistant or health care assistant
