Are you a highly organised, diligent and methodical Finance Assistant looking for a busy, hands-on role in a friendly accounts team? Do you enjoy taking ownership of customer queries, ensuring accuracy in processing a high volume ledger, whilst seeking out ways to do things better?
Our client, an expanding, customer-centric manufacturing firm based in Stockport, is currently recruiting for a proactive, forward-thinking Finance Administrator to join their established team. Working alongside the Finance Team Leader, your role will combine purchase ledger and inbound credit control requiring a strong mix of finance admin, data entry and customer service skills.
Job Description
Key duties will include:
Accurately entering invoices onto the purchase ledger
Preparing weekly and monthly supplier payments
Processing supplier invoices and shipping documentation
Undertaking bank account and credit card reconciliations
Answering incoming calls and emails to respond to customer and supplier queries
Processing card payments and allocating to customer accounts
Resolving invoice queries, producing statements and credit notes
Supporting other duties within the finance team as required
Person Specification
You’ll need to be a subject matter expert who enjoys handling responsibility for their own workload, whilst going the extra mile to support customer and colleagues with finance queries and additional responsibilities. A keen attention to detail and strong Excel / data entry skills are essential, together with a desire to solve problems, find solutions and identify better ways of working.
Candidates will also need to demonstrate:
A minimum of 12 months experience in a general finance or sales/purchase ledger role
Excellent customer service skills and a professional telephone manner
Proactive, enthusiastic, curious and innovative
Strong team player
For this role, knowledge of Sage accounts software would also be an advantage.

The company offers a salary of £25-28,000 dependent on experience, plus an annual profit share bonus, competitive pension scheme and excellent benefits package. Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 9.00am-5.30pm, and 9.00am-5.00pm on Fridays. You will work 3 days per week from their offices in Stockport and have the option to work 2 days remotely. Flexibility to support peak periods is required.
