The Opportunity On this 6-week Summer Internship you'll work alongside skilled professionals and from day one you will be working on real life meaningful projects - adding value to clients, while exploring challenges with curiosity and creativity. You'll learn from others and begin creating your professional network ready for when you graduate. There are regular learning sessions with our leadership team, opportunities for site visits to local projects and all kinds of social events that will support your learning and development. Our aim is to welcome as many students back into our other programmes be that another internship or potential graduate position. This placement is the stepping-stone to your future. Across the West of the UK, we have a team of 150 multi-disciplinary water engineers working closely collectively on projects across the whole water cycle. From upland catchment management and coastal schemes to flood risk management, and water treatment. The successful design, development and maintenance of our water infrastructure requires the integration of many disciplines. Key areas we work in include: resilience shift; our adaption to a changing climate, asset management, catchment science and management, dams and reservoirs engineering, flood and coastal risk management, integrated drainage network modelling – 1D, 2D and 3D water modelling, natural flood management and river restoration, river and waterway engineering, water environmental management and River Health – making our waterways cleaner, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and green infrastructure, wastewater infrastructure and treatment, water resources management, water treatment and supply. Our work is hugely rewarding, making a positive difference to people and the environment as well as pushing the boundaries of digital innovation. You will assist in preparing designs and gain a thorough appreciation of the role of design engineers. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to work alongside other disciplines such as Hydraulic Modellers, Mechanical, Electrical and Geotechnical Engineers, Landscape Architects, Environmental Consultants and Project Managers. There may be an opportunity to receive a permanent offer of employment upon graduating. We are looking for candidates who are working towards a bachelor's and / or master's degree in civil or coastal engineering, geography, environmental science or mathematics.
