About the role
As a Media and Planning Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing media strategies across all channels, ensuring the delivery of effective and efficient media campaigns that drive results for the business. You will work closely with brand and customer marketing teams to plan, optimise, and execute campaigns that align with our brand goals. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with a focus on delivering maximum return on investment (ROI) for our media spend.
Please note that this is a Maternity Cover contract (approx.7 months).
Key responsibilities include:
* Media Strategy Development: Implement the media strategy and lead the digital media strategy, ensuring it aligns with the broader marketing and brand objectives. Develop comprehensive media plans across digital, print, outdoor, and broadcast channels, tailored to our target audiences.
* Campaign Planning and Execution: Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of media campaigns, from initial concept through to reporting and optimisation. Ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and with a clear focus on achieving KPIs and ROI.
* Creative Briefs and Approvals: Collaborate with marketing teams to develop media briefs, ensuring the creative is aligned with the media plan and brand guidelines. Approve media creatives and ensure they meet campaign objectives.
* Campaign Optimisation: Regularly analyse and optimise live campaigns based on performance metrics, consumer behaviour, and industry trends. Use A/B testing, tracking tools, and consumer insights to refine strategies in real-time.
* Ecommerce Strategy: Develop key ecommerce principles and support the customer marketing team in their delivery, such as product content, ratings and reviews, sponsored products and media ROI. Provide updates on performance, to communicate relevant successes and opportunities for improvement.
* Q-Commerce Strategy: Develop and execute key Q-Commerce principles to support & advise the customer marketing team.
* Digital Representation Off Trade: Work closely with the Off Trade customer marketing team, to ensure they plan, execute and evaluate relevant digital campaigns, aligned to the overall media strategy.
* Budget Management: Manage the media budget effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently across channels and campaigns. Monitor media spend, providing regular updates to senior management and ensuring campaigns stay within budget.
* Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise data and insights to guide media planning and optimise campaigns. Work closely with relevant teams & agencies to build brand target audiences and assess campaign performance, making adjustments that improve effectiveness and return on investment.
* Reporting and Analysis: Provide relevant reports on media campaign performance, including detailed analysis of relevant KPI’s & ROI. Use insights to inform future campaigns and improve overall media strategy.
* Consumer Insights and Trends: Keep up to date with the latest consumer trends, media consumption patterns, and competitive activities. Incorporate these insights into media planning to ensure campaigns resonate with the target audience.
* Agency Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant media agencies, negotiating rates, and ensuring that the execution of campaigns is aligned with the strategic vision. Ensure that agencies meet the campaign objectives and timelines.
* Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the brand, customer and innovation teams to utilise their creatives and develop integrated campaigns that leverage both traditional and digital media channels. Ensure consistent messaging across all touchpoints and campaigns.
* Global IT Relations & Brand Websites: Liaise with local brand and global IT teams for updates and optimisation of key branded websites and to help build relevant campaign websites. This includes to capture & collation or relevant data.
* Digital Expertise: Act as a consultant for wider digital transformation or any projects with digital elements as required by the business.
What you’ll bring:
* 5+ years of experience in media or digital planning, buying, or related roles, preferably in the wine, FMCG, or consumer goods sectors.
* Experience managing multi-channel media campaigns is essential.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
* Media Expertise: Strong knowledge of UK media channels, both traditional and digital. Proven experience with digital media (e.g., social media, display, paid search) and offline media (e.g., TV, radio, outdoor) is required.
* Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse data and campaign performance to optimise media strategies. Proficiency with media planning tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Nielsen, MediaOcean, etc.).
* Project Management: Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Budget Management: Proven ability to manage and optimise media budgets, ensuring campaigns are delivered cost-effectively.
* Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, including creative, digital, and analytics departments. Ability to present campaign performance to senior management.
* Passion for the Wine Industry: A genuine interest in the wine industry and consumer trends related to wine brands and lifestyle.
Other Requirements
* Some business travel may be required from time to time
* Occasional out of hours work may be required
