Would you like to be part of our progressive, independently owned vet practice that is over 100 years old with exciting expansion plans?
We are looking for a farm office administrator that can help support the day to day running of our busy veterinary practice.
Shepton Vets Farm provide veterinary services to over 100 dairy clients (plus beef, sheep and small holdings) throughout Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire. We deliver lots of farmer training courses, teach Bristol students and provide export services alongside our core veterinary work.
Job summary
We are looking for candidates who can answer telephone calls from farm clients that are needing to book visits or place medicine orders. You will be the first point of contact for clients when they ring or visit the practice. You will be allocating calls to vets and vet techs. This is a critical role that is needed to ensure the smooth operating of the business.
Alongside handling calls to the office, you will be responsible for booking herd health planning and Johnes review visits with vets. Supporting the organisation of Bristol Vet student timetables may be required at times. These tasks will support our department’s ethos of Going Further For Our Farmers.
Responsibilities
1. You will be the first point of contact for our trusted clients when they contact the practice to seek veterinary advice, order medicines and schedule appointments.
2. You will be supporting our vet and vet tech team to carry out their work on farm.
3. You will work closely with our vets and vet techs to ensure their diaries are organised efficiently, utilising the whole team.
4. You will support the vet team to deliver effective herd health planning by collating medicine usage data and herd performance data. You will book Johnes reviews and provide vets with the data needed to carry out these visits.

Required
1. Background knowledge or a keen interest in the agricultural industry.
2. Excellent communication skills and time management, prioritising important tasks.
3. Experience with telephone and verbal communications.
4. Experience of using computer programmes to manage workflows including Excel. Uniform Agri beneficial but not essential. Training can be provided.
5. Team player.
6. Full time Monday to Friday (37.5 hrs per week ranging from 8am – 5.30pm).
7. Weekend availability (1 in 6 Saturday mornings).
