Our mechanical fitters work on all systems involved with Air Support Equipment, from hydraulic systems to braking, as well as supporting compressors, generators and adaptors across the base.
As a mechanical fitter, you will be responsible for a range of duties including:
Carrying out the maintenance, testing, installation and repair of Air Support Equipment (ASE) IAW relevant DAPs and completing the relevant documentation.
Maintenance, testing and repair of Functional Machinery (FM), lifting equipment, abrasive wheels and air testing IAW current regulations to ensure compliance with MAA regulations.
Offering advice and support to HM ships where ASE cannot be returned.
Prioritising ships and flight equipment due to fast turnaround requirements.
Delivering instruction regarding maintenance and fault rectification of ASE to Naval personnel booked onto a maintenance course after a suitable length of time in the position.
Conducting audits and ensuring the department is complying with current regulations.
Driving and logistics around the establishment.
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
This is an overview of responsibilities and there may be additional tasks attached to the above. Flexibility is essential due to priorities that may arise and the nature of our engineering role within RNAS Culdrose.
This role will initially require the successful candidate to undertake a period of on-the-job training, though full support will be provided. This includes online mandatory training and additional Health and Safety training.
