Exciting opportunities have arisen within the Communities Area Team, for 11 Stronger Communities Officers to work throughout the city. These roles are full time community roles, so due to the nature, Hybrid working isn’t an option. The posts will be based at one of bases (Edlington, Mexborough, City Centre, Thorne or Adwick). The core focus of the Stronger Communities Officers is hands on delivery of an all age service in community engagement, capacity building, community cohesion, diversionary and community safety activities along with local and national programmes such as Stronger Families, Well Being, Community Led Support and to assist with supporting Ward Members in their community leadership roles. The core responsibilities and duties of the Stronger Communities Officers include: Frontline delivery of an ‘all age person-centred’ holistic service in a locality, to help people lead healthy and active lifestyles, which allows them to remain living independently in their homes for longer. Enable an asset based community development approach within a designated locality that supports strengths based practice to ensure individuals have choice and control in how their support is provided. Customer facing delivery of early intervention and prevention solutions to reduce escalation to costly services. To tackle low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, hate crime and criminal damager and provide support to victims and vulnerable residents utilising enforcement tools and powers alongside targeted interventions. This include progressing case work where appropriate. Using robust partnership analysis, data and effective intelligence reporting for hotspot action planning around targeted prevention and early intervention. Identify and support individuals and families to achieve positive outcomes and sustained change through case management and delivery of local and national agendas such as the Stronger Families programme and the Wellbeing agenda. Directly contribute to the delivery of Community Led Support and community capacity building to enable residents and communities to deliver and access local services, drive innovation around the community offer and enable residents to live independently in their homes and communities for longer. To develop an understanding of the needs of local people which will enable communities to do more for themselves and develop their own solutions. Key link with work around Complex Lives / Troubled individuals and vulnerability where impact is seen in the wider area. Support the delivery of community projects using various forms of funding. Work with local ward members to support them in their community leadership role. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate: Experience in developing strong and resilient communities using a range of innovative asset based community development skills Knowledge of anti-social behaviour / community safety legislation and understanding and use of relevant tools and powers. Strong and significant interpersonal, communication, organisational, engagement, negotiation skills and solution focussed and be able to work to tight deadlines. Knowledge and understanding of national and local legislation, policy agendas and programmes associated with the service thematic priorities eg – Supporting Families Agenda, Crime and Policing Act, Community Led Support and Wellbeing.
