Job summary Broomfield Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Burns Surgery The unit is a well-recognised centre for advanced training in Breast and Reconstructive Microsurgery, Hand and Complex Limb Trauma reconstruction, Burns acute management and late reconstruction, and Cleft surgery. St Andrews Centre is also a regional tertiary centre for Head and Neck cancer services for the Essex region. You will be involved in the management of Burns patients within the Adult, Child and ITU wards. The post includes exposure to acute and reconstructive Burn Care in a high-volume service. The unit offers plenty of opportunity for study and research. The trainees are benefitted by the structured weekly teaching programme supervised by the consultants. You will be attached to Burns Consultant Plastic Surgeons for six-month periods in order to gain further training in the particular expertise of those consultants. These are not recognised training posts. However, senior trainees from both home and abroad are invited to apply. You would be expected to work as an integral part of a surgical team and would take on considerable responsibility for patients under the care of the Consultant for whom you would be working. You would also be involved in research and would be encouraged to present and publish papers. Main duties of the job You will support the plastic surgical service at the St Andrew's Centre & satellite hospitals as required. You will attend the out-patient departments and the operating theatres as required by the consultants. You will deputise for the consultants in their absence at a level commensurate with his/her experience in plastic surgery. You will be responsible for attending to the administrative matters associated with the above.
