Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join an engineering team who are working on the design and development of light helicopters for the global market. The company designs, develops, and manufactures their products in the UK.
With extensive financial backing and a growing order book, they are seeking to grow their engineering team and require Mechanical Design Engineers to join their team. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will work with an engineering team to develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of various aircraft parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of various aircraft parts and assemblies.
2. Carry out the design and development of systems such as landing gear, flight controls, cabin seating, engine installations, or rotor systems.
3. Carry out concept development for mechanical systems.
4. Use hand calculations, simulation methods, modelling tools, and CAE tools to size, analyse, and optimise system elements.
5. Carry out concept design of mechanical systems using 3D CAD.
6. Develop part and system testing plans.
7. Support in-house prototype build.
Requirements:
1. BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or HNC/HDC with equivalent experience).
2. Proven mechanical design, analysis & development experience.
3. Proficient in modelling parts & assemblies in 3D CAD.
4. Proficient in carrying out engineering calculations and the use of modelling and simulations software (Mathcad, ANSYS or similar).
5. Experience in developing mechanical systems from concept to reality.
