This is a Temporary Contract to Cover Maternity Leave.
Are you seeking a stimulating yet challenging work environment? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen within Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Connecting Families Team to appoint an experienced Family Support Practitioner IV (previously Connecting Families Key Worker) for a one-year maternity cover position.
This role involves providing an outreach service for families, working closely with the entire family within their home environment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish strong and trusting relationships, facilitating open and honest communication that supports families in making meaningful and lasting changes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work sensitively with each family member to assess individual and collective needs.
* Develop a clear, effective, and comprehensive outcome plan, addressing identified requirements.
* Implement and oversee the plan using a range of methodologies, working in partnership with the family, colleagues, and external agencies to ensure progress.
* Conduct regular Team Around the Family meetings, reviewing progress and adjusting plans as necessary.
* Act as the Lead Professional, coordinating Team Around the Family sessions and ensuring the active involvement of both the family and relevant professionals.
Person Specification:
This is a demanding role requiring a resilient, proactive, and solution-focused individual. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* A practical and positive approach that balances both challenge and support for families.
* Emotional resilience to overcome resistance to change.
* A genuine belief in the potential of families to transform their lives and build a better future.
* Substantial experience working with families in a similar field.
* A professional qualification is desirable, though applicants with equivalent experience will be considered.
Additional Requirements:
This role requires flexibility to work outside standard office hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, supporting families in achieving key objectives such as school attendance, home management, employment, and community engagement.
