Our Delivery Group Our Delivery group owns the end to end rider experience, the presentation and quality of service in app (delivering hot food to hungry consumers), and all the algorithms that help us get riders on the road and match riders with orders when they are working. Delivery’s aim is to fulfil orders seamlessly and at low cost, supporting growth across consumer missions, matched to consumer expectations of service. We achieve this by (1) setting the right expectations with consumers and offering a market-leading level of operational transparency throughout the order journey, (2) making the best decisions about how to match and price offers to riders, (3) making the process of delivering an order fast and defect free, and (4) maintaining a best in class, compliant rider fleet sized to fulfil our demand with good service levels. We are looking for a product leader with experience in solving complex multi-sided problems, ideally within contexts that have a substantial algorithmic component, to shape the strategic direction of this space and to lead the set of Product Managers and teams in this area. As Product Director, you will: Lead a team of 5 product managers leading on problem spaces critical to the success of our delivery network - from how we algorithmically match riders to orders, to how we predict the preparation time for an order, to how we seamlessly navigate the handover of items from merchants to riders and riders to consumers, to the strategic delivery capabilities (large orders, scheduled orders, new types of vehicle) that are critical for delivering our long-term vision. Be responsible for helping the team think boldly about their spaces, and for shaping a combined vision for where we take our delivery network in the long-term. Contribute meaningfully to raising the bar on the craft of our Product Managers across Deliveroo role modelling great craft, helping hire and grow world-class Product Managers, and more generally helping make Deliveroo and exceptional place to solve problems. Help the team make big decisions based on complex outcomes and datasets, combining this with high-judgement and a deep understanding of how the marketplace works. Manage relationships with cross-functional teams across Deliveroo’s central and regional operations to ensure alignment and smooth execution. Foster continuous improvements in our marketplace, leveraging advanced technologies to enhance user experience and marketplace dynamics. Requirements We’re looking for someone with: You’ll be able to define and communicate this vision in simple, crisp and inspiring terms across all levels - from the CEO down to junior engineers working on solving critical problems in the space. You’ll have a strong background in managing and mentoring Product Managers, with a track record of scaling and leading high-performing teams. You’ll be able to navigate high-stakes decisions across some of the highest-leverage parts of the marketplace and be able to make high-complexity decisions quickly and confidently. You’ll have worked on complex, multi-sided problems ideally including problems solved algorithmically, strategically, and at large scale. You’ll combine an ability to grind out incremental wins that are meaningful at scale, while being willing to take bold bets on entirely new approaches.
