Manufacturing Laboratory Technologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Laboratory Technologist to join the team within Civil Aerospace Critical Part Manufacture function, based in Washington.
As a Manufacturing Laboratory Technologist, you will control, develop and maintain special processes required to support production of components and ensure the engineering specifications are satisfied for new part introduction and ongoing manufacture.
What you will be doing:
1. Interpret design and engineering requirements and ensuring shop applications remain in compliance.
2. Approve process data cards/procedures, process or stage drawings and Methods of Manufacture both for domestically manufactured parts and for parts manufactured in the external supply network.
3. Maintain operator training and qualification requirements for specific Special Processes including identification of changes to specification requirements that require subsequent operator training.
4. Assess and sentence production hardware to defined criteria.
5. Lead mixed teams to advance specific processes and/or resolve manufacturing problems.
6. Act as a member of a Product Control Authority (PCA) for one of the onsite plants and/or the External supply Chain to approve method of manufacture changes on classified parts.
7. Support the selection, justification, acquisition and commissioning of new processing equipment.
Who we are looking for:
1. Experience with special processes such as; chemical processing, shot peening, spray/electroplated coatings, and the inspection thereof.
2. Experience of process ownership, continuous improvement, and lean initiatives.
3. Experience with robotic systems, such as FANUC, is desirable.
4. Qualified to a degree level/equivalent in Materials Science, Metallurgy or an appropriate Engineering discipline.
5. Working towards or have already achieved Chartered Engineer status (UK) or other national equivalent desirable.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills.
7. Data-driven approach to problem solving.
