Role: BMS Design Engineer
Rate: £400 - £500 p/day OUTSIDE IR35
Location: Work from home/ Ashby de-la-Zouch / Farnborough
Duration: 6 months minimum
Our client is looking for a BMS Project Engineer to join the solutions delivery and design team. The engineer should fully understand the design & Engineering requirements of building control systems for a varied range of small to very large buildings, varying in complexity. Candidates will need a thorough understanding of both mechanical and electrical building systems and have the ability to work autonomously with a selection of key clients.
The role will require knowledge and experience of interpreting customer specifications to develop comprehensive scope packages for individual disciplines including motor control panel design & production, software configuration, graphic packages, and installation and commissioning scope detail as well as coordinating the delivery of separate packages with both external suppliers and internal resources located locally and remotely. Candidates must also be prepared to work flexibly as part of the team and be pro-active with new technologies and best practices.
Applicants should have engineering skills as detailed below:
1. Electrical installation & control panel knowledge
2. HVAC understanding and awareness
3. BMS, EMS, iBMS, DDC controls and methodology
4. BMS software and best practice
5. Preferably have knowledge of leading manufacturers' equipment/systems i.e., Honeywell, Trend etc.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Minimum HNC qualified in relevant discipline.
2. Must be prepared to undergo security screening for specific projects.
3. Significant industry experience in control and automation at technician/engineer level working in a critical and secure environment.
4. A detailed understanding of specialist building systems including BMS, fire safety and security systems, the BMS aspects of ICT infrastructure.
5. Experienced in BMS/control system design, software configuration, graphic generation, motor control panel design/production, installation and commissioning.
6. Experience in BMS systems, PLC's, stand-alone controllers and energy/power control systems and interpretation of client specifications into working scope document packages.
7. Coordination of subcontractors and internal resources to develop & integrate BMS sub-disciplines to deliver full BMS system solutions.
8. Experience in coordinating BMS sub-disciplines with multiple external suppliers and subcontract companies.
9. Excellent IT skills.
10. Demonstrated complex problem-solving skills.
11. A self-starter and strong team player, flexible and able to work effectively without close supervision.
12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and able to develop excellent customer/supplier working relationships.
13. The ability to carry out pre-sales technical surveys.
14. Fully understand the design requirements of each control system project, seek information if required, and then implement the control system design, including Control Panel Drawings, Control Valve Selection Schedules, Des of Ops, DDC Strategy and/or Graphics Details.
15. Ensure proper up-to-date and detailed technical records are kept and produce Project O&M Manuals.
16. Carry out system commissioning to include field wiring checks and motor rotations, control panel adjustments such as fuse rating checks and overload settings, and carry out full control circuit.
17. Attend as necessary any coordination meetings to ensure commissioning will take place to program.
