Job Description
The Claims Handler will manage a caseload of EL/PL delegated authority fixed fee cases for insurance clients, working with experienced colleagues on strategy, liability decisions, and technical development. The role requires a forensic and analytical approach, with experience in handling documents and evidence such as Pre-action disclosure files, Infant Approval Hearings, and EL/PL files.
In addition, the Assistant File Handler will support File Handlers in their tasks.
Key Accountabilities
* Responding to Pre-action disclosure applications
* Handling matters per client SLAs
* Instructing Counsel/Advocates
* Reviewing evidence and conducting legal research
* Negotiations and drafting payments into court
* Managing routine correspondence
* Setting and reviewing claim strategies
* Managing disclosures, evidence, investigations, and witness statements
* Liaising with insured parties, claimants, solicitors, and witnesses
* Instructing Counsel/Experts and attending conferences/trials
* Drafting Tomlin and Consent Orders
* Ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
Working Hours
35 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, with 1-hour unpaid lunch. Location: Parklands, Bolton.

* Strong communication skills and confidence in telephone interactions

* Ability to meet performance targets and work effectively within the Keoghs Shared Behaviour framework
* Analytical skills, legal education (ILEX, LPC, or equivalent), and previous personal injury or litigation experience are preferred
