We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and maintain in-house Oracle databases in a Windows environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of our Oracle databases, including Oracle 19c and WebLogic.
As an Oracle DBA, you will work closely with the development, operations, and IT teams to provide support and expertise in database management. You will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing the performance of our databases, while maintaining system security and integrity.
Duties:
* Database Administration: Administer and maintain 10 Oracle databases (primarily Oracle 19c) on Windows servers.
* Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues.
* Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
* High Availability: Ensure high availability of Oracle databases using clustering, replication, and other techniques.
* Resilience: Improve the resilience of our systems and offer continual improvements.
* Database Security: Maintain and enhance database security, implement security patches, and manage access controls.
* Database Upgrades and Patches: Perform Oracle database upgrades, patches, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
* WebLogic Administration: Collaborate with the team to manage WebLogic servers, ensuring proper integration with the Oracle databases.
* Incident and Problem Management: Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, corruption, and connectivity issues.
* Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the development and operations teams to ensure optimal database performance and high availability.
* Review: Examine all our Database structures and propose improvements to assist in modernizing all our systems.
* Monitoring: Set up and improve monitoring on our databases to allow for effective KPIs.
* Other duties: To work as an effective team player, assisting in development, database improvements, modernization, training, and other duties to make the IT department offer the highest quality service to our colleagues.
The Person:
Education and Certification:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
* Oracle DBA certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
Experience:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in a Windows environment.
* Solid experience with Oracle 19c and earlier versions.
* Experience with WebLogic Server administration is a plus.
* Familiarity with SQL, PL/SQL, and database troubleshooting and optimization techniques.
Skills:
* Proficient in Oracle database architecture, including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and ASM.
* Experience with Oracle database backup and recovery strategies.
* Strong knowledge of database security practices and data integrity.
* Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
* Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.
* Strong understanding of Windows OS in the context of database administration.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with WebLogic Server administration, including deploying applications, managing server instances, and troubleshooting WebLogic-related issues.
* Knowledge of cloud technologies and hybrid cloud database management is a plus.
* Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
