About the Role We are seeking an experienced Market & Competitor Intelligence professional to join the supportive Research & Insight team in our English Language Teaching (ELT) Division. This role is to lead on the development and implementation of a coherent programme of insight and analysis to facilitate the decision making and strategic planning across the ELT Division, including the development, implementation and embedding of a programme to support portfolio business planning and segmentation/product planning through market sizing, landscape and competitor insights. You will be responsible of championing market and customer voice, ensuring this is at the heart of all decision making and integrated into the relevant strategies and decisions to drive customer satisfaction, ELT competitiveness and enable commercial success of the product portfolio and customer offer to support growth in global English language learning markets. Key responsibilities in this role will include: Working with the Director of Global Research and relevant teams create and deliver a strategy for developing, implementing and embedding a market landscape programme. Ensuring focus is given to key strands of the ELT strategy and aligned with functional needs and best practice research processes and tools. To develop, lead and provide a structured approach to gathering and analysing market and competitive trend expertise in the relevant environments to inform strategy, vision and portfolio business planning Responsible for market sizing of existing and potential new segments and providing necessary quantitative insights. To develop a framework to gather, maintain and report market environment (such as PESTLE, education focus). To create and implement a framework for gathering, maintaining and reporting competitor activity at both a strategic and market/sector/segment level. Working closely with relevant teams to maximise insight to deliver well structured, reliable insights across traditional, non-traditional and disruptors within the industry. To create and implement a framework for gathering, maintaining and reporting high level trends in terms of customer needs across all segments and new emerging opportunities to inform and drive both strategic and product portfolio planning. Work closely with the Research Managers and other colleagues to ensure consistency, clarity and actionable insights. Working with the Director of Global Research to manage, develop and deliver the approach, implementation and maintenance of an insight engine ensuring it is aligned to business needs, providing centralised insights, improves efficiency/collaboration and is consistent and scalable. Reviewing relevant existing research processes and proactively looking for ways to improve them, working with the wider team to implement a consistent approach. To build relationships and work closely with stakeholders to ensure research needs are being met, outputs are in the most appropriate format and insights are being used to drive business decision making. We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be: Previous experience of working in Market & Competitor Intelligence environment either for a market research agency or client-side as part of the organisation customer insight team Experience within a B2B environment Hands on experience of market landscape methods, both qualitative and quantitative Experience in monitoring, managing, manipulating and drawing rich insights from qualitative and quantitative data. Ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people, and projects simultaneously, including project management skills Excellent communication and influencing skills for internal and external collaboration Experience working independently and as part of a team on multiple projects. Ability to work on own initiative, assessing priorities and workload appropriately A strong can do attitude and ability to think outside the box to solve problems High level of attention to detail and computer literacy including analytics tools such as PowerBI, advanced Microsoft Excel skills or similar Commercially astute An understanding of or interest in the ELT/educational market (desirable) Benefits We care about work/life balance here at OUP.
