Job Title: Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical)
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Up to £48k
Purpose:
Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems on-site, minimising downtime, maximising efficiency, and maintaining safety and reliability.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, motors, and lighting.
2. Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
3. Respond to breakdowns and emergencies, resolving issues promptly.
4. Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance programme.
5. Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
6. Calibrate and test equipment to ensure accurate performance and compliance.
7. Maintain detailed records of engineering activities and provide updates to Production Managers.
8. Promote a safety-first culture, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
9. Provide guidance and training on equipment operation and maintenance best practices.
10. Liaise with external contractors regarding servicing and maintenance needs.
Performance Measures:
1. Achievement of preventative maintenance schedules (PPMs).
2. Reduction in equipment downtime.
Attributes:

2. Strong troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.
3. Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
4. Proficient in using testing and calibration equipment and reading schematics.
5. Detail-oriented, organised, and effective in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
1. HNC, City & Guilds, or time-served apprenticeship in engineering (or equivalent experience).
2. Experience as an electrically biased engineer, ideally in FMCG or food production.
3. 18th Edition certification.
