Are you passionate about sports and have experience working with young people with additional learning needs? We are looking for an enthusiastic Sports Development Officer (HLTA) to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of our pupils. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to lead and promote sport and leisure activities within a dynamic Federation and special school environment, while also driving learning pathways for our 14-19 age group.
About the Role:
As our Sports Development Officer, you will:
• Lead the delivery of a high-quality sports and physical education and leisure programme within the curriculum.
• Develop and implement a diverse range of inclusive sports activities tailored to the needs of pupils with a wide range of abilities, including those with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism spectrum conditions (ASC), and severe learning difficulties (SLD).
• Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate sports and leisure activities into the wider curriculum, fostering physical development and wellbeing.
• Drive the 14-19 pathways programme by creating opportunities for pupils to access community sports facilities, engage in sports qualifications, and participate in transition activities that promote lifelong health and fitness.
• Coordinate extracurricular sports clubs and activities, including lunchtime and after-school sessions, ensuring a varied and engaging offer for all pupils.
• Liaise with local sports clubs, community organizations, and external agencies to create partnerships that enhance the sporting opportunities available to our Learners.
• Lead training sessions for staff to build capacity and confidence in delivering inclusive sports activities.
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
• Holds a HLTA qualification or equivalent and has experience working with pupils with additional learning needs.
• Has a passion for sports and physical education, with the ability to adapt activities to meet a wide range of needs and abilities.
• Demonstrates excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to plan and deliver a broad range of engaging and inclusive sports activities.
• Has experience or a strong interest in promoting sports as part of the 14-19 curriculum pathways, supporting LEARNERs in developing skills and accessing community opportunities.
• Is a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with pupils, staff, parents, and external partners.
