Critical Data Centre M&E Engineer – Bath

Hours – Continental Shift Pattern
Our client are a global data centre services organisation, steadily growing their presence, and have a requirement for multiple shift engineers to be based at a Critical data centre facility in Bath. Working on a continental shift pattern, covering 12 hour days and nights, the role calls for experienced multi-skilled building services or data centre engineers to join and take responsibility for routine and reactive maintenance to electrical and mechanical systems in a highly critical environment. These sites are co-location, housing servers for blue chip, household name organisations and such is vital they maintain 100% uptime.
Guideline salary is up to £47,000 basic, along with an annual bonus (based on total earnings inc. OT, not just salary). Combined with opportunity for overtime and training, this is an exceptional opportunity to join a market leader in a booming sector.
Duties:
1. Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including HV Electrical isolations/operations). Making recommendations for improvement and providing concise technical reports when required.
2. Ensuring that all Specialist Sub Contractors visits are conducting works in line with approved Standard Operating
3. Carrying out daily emergency callout tasks
4. Completing logbooks and RAMS
5. Attending client meetings
6. Able to apply a risk focused maintenance approach and operations of plant and systems in data centres/critical environments.
7. Ensuring all critical client services, computer rooms, data networks, manufacturing and revenue earning services meet client requirements.
8. Provide emergency response standby, call out. Escalate urgent issues. Respond to work interruptions, outages or emergencies consistent with the SLA.
9. Support critical environment related technical audits as required and directed by line manager.
10. Completion of records and logs required to demonstrate delivery of maintenance requirements.
11. Control and supervise contractors when required.
12. Emergency lighting testing
13. All Electrical work including lighting, wiring, testing, alarm systems, BMS, lighting systems and Heat exchangers
14. Engineers must be able to demonstrate appropriate knowledge of AHU, FCU, UPS, Generators, LV systems, which will include the ability to fault find.
15. Evaluate and escalate any potential risks, with an assessment of impact, probable causes and mitigation opportunities.
16. Actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
17. Support the Data Centre Shift Leader in the day to day operational delivery of all planned, reactive, corrective and project related works.
Requirements:
18. Trade trained with ideally 3 years’ experience in the building services
19. City & Guilds Qualified Electrical Level 3.
20. Critical site (Data Centre or Banking Sites)
21. Good building services knowledge
22. Excellent Client Facing
23. Ability to lead a team when under pressure, whilst remaining calm, clear thinking and able to deliver the required services to the client within given time constraints.
24. Individuals who can demonstrate commitment and previous experience; but not meet all the required technical qualifications may be considered subject to Directors approval.
25. Demonstrate a willingness to attend on and off site training for plant and systems this may require nights away from home.
