The Process Engineer will form a key part of the Central Capital Project & Engineering Team and will be involved in engineering design on a range of projects within the Central CP&E portfolio. The Process Engineer will be assigned to specific project(s) within the portfolio and will have responsibilities for the technology selection, process design and coordination of the process activities on the project(s). The Process Engineer will guide the production of concept and front-end engineering design for various projects, including:
1. Block diagrams and process flow diagrams (PFD's)
2. Design basis
3. Heat and material balance
4. Preliminary piping and instrumentation diagrams (PID’s)
5. Design reviews
These projects will vary significantly in size and opportunity/challenge level. Ensure continuity of process engineering design through later project phases to commissioning and handover. Oversight and direction in safety in design, design standards, and on-time, on-budget, on-quality delivery.
Your Responsibilities
1. Lead the resolution of technical issues within the technology for complex problems.
2. Demonstrate innovation and creativity, inside and outside of individual projects.
3. Takes action to solve risk issues and recommend improvements.
4. Identify and propose the use of new technologies to gain competitive advantage.
5. Demonstrate a proactive and uncompromising attitude to process safety.
6. Ensure full compliance with all Environment, Health and Safety policies and procedures, throughout daily activities, giving due consideration to themselves and others whilst actively participating in the building of the EHS culture.
7. Participate in Safety Studies for technology and capital projects.
8. Ensure all relevant Health & Safety risk assessments are carried out as required and all actions closed in a timely manner.
9. Lead the technical work and deliverables for new process introduction projects.
10. Responsible for basic engineering design packages and other technical input for new processes for which capital projects are required in adherence to Capex Projects procedures and agreed internally.
11. Manage small technical projects or support project managers in the delivery of larger projects, including reporting.
12. Mentor junior process engineers.
13. Ensure technical knowledge is kept up to date.
14. Develop and maintain close contact with technical experts within the relevant engineering fields.
Requirements for the Role
1. Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience – Chartered Status is preferred.
2. Substantial relevant experience as a project process engineer.
3. Proven process engineering design experience with technical safety and environmental aspects.
4. Proficient in use of Engineering Software, e.g., Hysys, ProII, Aspen+.
5. A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative.
6. Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives.
