About our client: Millie is a real character; full of energy, mischief, and fun! A thriving, active, and busy 6-year-old with a love for climbing, swimming, going to the playground, and sensory walks. Millie attends a mainstream school setting and loves to play and engage with all of her peers! Millie sustained a brain injury at birth, resulting in developmental delay, sensory processing disorder (SPD), and low muscle tone. She can find it difficult to stay on task and concentrate and struggles with fatigue and self-regulation. There is emergency epilepsy medication on site; although Millie does not have frequent seizures or is medicated for epilepsy, there is a possibility that a seizure can occur when she is poorly or has a high temperature. Millie can be described as sensory-seeking, has no danger awareness, and uses a wheelchair for longer journeys. She has good receptive and expressive communication skills and has a therapy team in place to support her rehabilitation.
Overview of role: The SEN Nanny is an integral part of Millie's team. Collaborative working, thinking outside the box, and being creative are essential. This is a dynamic role, and your responsibilities will grow as you settle in and build your relationship with Millie and her parents. The usual nanny duties, school pick-up, arranging playdates, extra-curricular activities, and nursery duties are all included; however, the SEN Nanny will also implement therapy programmes to support Millie's overall development and to reach her targets and goals. The physio, OT, and SLT each have individual areas they are working on with Millie, with a sensory diet also introduced. You will be confident working both in a sole charge and shared care role alongside Mum. Millie’s MDT is vast and growing; therefore, the SEN Nanny will be an excellent communicator and team player.
Who this job would suit: A proactive, engaging, and positive SEN Professional with a genuine passion for supporting children and a keen interest in therapy and rehabilitation. This could be your first step into your SEN Nanny role or a position that works alongside your studies; all you need is early years and SEN experience and be ready for a new challenge.
What’s great about this job: Millie is already making progress on her rehabilitation; she has huge potential, and with your input and support, she can exceed all expectations. She is a lot of fun and will make you laugh every day! There is excellent training available, along with ongoing opportunities to learn new skills.
