We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Pharmacist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape pharmaceutical care for patients with complex gastroenterology and nutritional needs, with opportunity to work within the multidisciplinary team (MDT). This role is available as a progressional post should you not meet the full job specification; information has been included in the attached documents.
Main duties of the job
1. Leads and delivers the day-to-day clinical pharmacy service to gastroenterology through a team approach across the service.
2. Acts as the lead for pharmacy service to gastroenterology and nutrition on the Birmingham Heartlands site.
3. Work collaboratively with the Nutrition support team with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
4. Interprets the needs of the specialty and negotiates a range of pharmacy services to meet them.
5. Plans and implements developments to the pharmacy service to the specialty.
6. Also acts as a senior clinical pharmacist in various specialties.
7. Represents pharmacy in relevant specialist networks, and in joint work with our locality Primary Care Trusts and other bodies at local or regional level.
8. Line manages Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Trainee Pharmacists, and Undergraduate Pharmacists seconded to the specialty for experience.
9. To take full part in clinical/dispensary rota and bank holidays duties.

1. 4 years vocational Master's degree in pharmacy (or equivalent).
2. Post-graduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience.
3. Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS.
4. Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Experience

1. Significant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience in gastroenterology and nutrition.
2. Previous participation in multi-disciplinary team.
3. Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm for providing high quality pharmaceutical care.
4. Experience of teaching/presenting to other healthcare professionals/patients.
5. Commitment to own Continuing Professional Development.
6. Possesses relevant clinical knowledge in gastroenterology and nutrition.
7. Knowledge of national initiatives and guidelines, e.g. NICE, NSF.
8. Possesses knowledge of available resources to answer Medicines Information queries.
9. Able to work with drug budget information.
10. Demonstrates good knowledge of gastroenterology and nutrition and current issues.
11. Previous involvement in clinical trials.
