We are now looking for our second Carne Associate Director following Natasha Rickman’s appointment as Artistic Director of the Mercury Theatre, Colchester. The Carne Associate Director is a key member of our artistic and producing teams and leads our artistic development work. We aim to develop a future artistic leader, possibly an artistic director, who will relish the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has demonstrated significant leadership potential, perhaps in the face of challenges, but who has not yet been given the opportunity to develop all those skills. The right candidate will grow during their time in the role.
At the OT, you will lead the theatre’s artistic development work with new and emerging artists of all kinds. You will direct our 2025 festive show, leading a professional creative team working with our 18-25 Young Company to stage Alice in Wonderland by Chinonyerem Odimba. You will work closely with a small, enthusiastic team, and gain a wealth of experience in a variety of fields, including line management, event curation and community outreach. It is an opportunity to take a decisive next step in your career, in an organisation dedicated to developing the next generation of artistic talent.
The right candidate will have substantial professional experience sufficient to mentor emerging artists and to be ready for significant responsibilities.
Interviews: Wednesday 11 and Friday 13 December
