Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Carry out maintenance and repair operations in line with the operational and maintenance plan/budget to enhance the reliability and availability of plant machinery and equipment while minimizing maintenance costs. Ensure all equipment, installations, and buildings on site are maintained to the highest operational standards.
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs:
* Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
* Diagnose faults, analyse failures, and carry out corrective actions to restore functionality.
* Conduct inspections, adjustments, and calibrations according to company standards.
Documentation, Instructions, Plans and Drawings
Work from written instructions, understand system drawings and plans.
Working knowledge of pneumatic systems, with the ability to read and understand system drawings and identify faults to facilitate rectification work where required.
Welding / Fabrication
Carry out welding and fabrication processes, using bending, folding, rolling and cutting machines and all welding processes available (i.e. mixed gases, manual arc, MIG and TIG, Arc-air systems).
Ability in general bench fitting including fitting of keys, shaft pulleys, gears, couplings, pneumatic drives, motors, control valves.
Lifting, Rigging and Slinging
Organise, plan, rig, sling and act as banksman for simple lifting operations.
Operate mobile and overhead cranes, to carry out complex lifting operations, where trained and competent.
Operate powered hoists, pendant type, where trained and competent.
Pumping Systems
Carry out maintenance and repairs of cooling systems using a variety of fluids.
Compressed Air Systems
Carry out maintenance on compressors and compressed air systems.
Bulk Storage and Transport Systems
Understand and be competent in the repair methods and procedures required for bulk storage (silos, vessels, hoppers), and transport systems (pneumatic and mechanical).
Education/Qualification
* Time served Electrician with City & Guilds Electrical qualifications, and/or relevant NVQ.
* BTEC/NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering.
* City & Guilds -2360 Electrical installation-pt1&2.
* City & Guilds -2381 17th Edition IEE Regulations for Electrical installations.
* BS 4872 MMA/MIG Welding Training.
