Job responsibilities
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivery of specialised clinicaldiagnostic imaging procedures, which meet the highest possible standards with avery high degree of reproducibility.
Complete imaging of patientsRetina, Optic Discs, Corneas using a variety of equipment including, Funduscamera and software programmes for retinal photography.
In liaison with specialistOphthalmic Consultants, Optometrists and Nursing staff, to ensure accuratediagnosis and care pathway for the patient.
A detailed understanding of theanatomy and physiology of the eye and a sound knowledge of ophthalmicconditions is a fundamental requirement of the ophthalmic assistant, thusensuring the best representation of the condition is described in the imaging.
Use image manipulation andgraphics software to optimise image acquisition.
Should be conversant with VisualFields and the pathology of disease so as to be able to undertake withoutsupervision.
The testing of patients visualfields and visual acuity for diagnosis and treatment.
Assessment of patients ability to pass the DVLA(Driving Vehicle Licensing Authority) requirement for Visual Fields and VisualAcuity.

Essential
1. Should be proficient and confident in the imaging of patients Retina, Optic Discs and Corneas using: Optical Coherence Tomography (; Retinal Fundal Photography; Other ophthalmic imaging equipment as necessary.
2. To collate, appoint and adjust patients appointments for Visual Fields, HRT, OCT
3. Demonstrate awareness of NHS
