As a prison library officer you will lead a team including prisoners, who as orderlies will work alongside you to deliver high quality library and information services, enable the delivery of activities and events, assist customers to access information and resources and encourage use by the prison community.

Working as a Lancashire County Council employee within a prison environment, brings additional responsibilities in terms of the requirement to obey to prison rules and procedures. This responsibility requires you to demonstrate and enforce an acceptable standard of behaviour to ensure the safety of staff and prisoners within the library. HMP Preston will provide contract staff with the appropriate prison training.
This is a permanent post based at HMP Preston Prison. The role may on occasion require you to work evenings and weekends and at other locations and may also involve lone working. The hours are 37 per week.
