Job Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service in Leicestershire.
You will have the opportunity to work on both the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at St Lukes Community Hospital in Market Harborough and within the wider community team:
Stroke Unit: You will be working as part of the SLT team alongside another Band 6 SLT, an SLT assistant and supported by our Band 7 stroke lead within the wider MDT. The stroke unit is a 20 bedded community stroke rehabilitation unit, providing speech and language therapy input both on a one to one basis and in groups (including online carer education/support group).
Community team: As part of the community SLT team you will be involved in longer-term rehabilitation for people following a stroke and/or other neurological/long term conditions (e.g. Dementia, Parkinsons, MND), seeing patients in their homes, remotely or in clinic (as appropriate to need). You will be working within a locality team alongside other SLTs (band 5 & 6) and SLT assistants to share the caseload, and supported by our community lead.
Note: This post could be offered as a developing band 5/6 role for experienced band 5's with adult dysphagia experience, who need time and support to achieve their band 6 competencies.
Our Speech and Language Therapy Service is county-wide with good links with our acute hospital colleagues and supported by a dedicated administration team to provide a high-quality service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We have around 30 clinical staff from Bands 4 to 8a. Our priority is on patient-centred, holistic care and we understand the importance of supporting staff to develop their skills and interests.
