Job Overview: This role involves managing the Home Delivery team, ensuring efficient daily operations, accurate stock control, and adherence to health & safety and quality policies. You will oversee team performance, implement continuous improvement practices, and provide support across the Distribution Department as needed. Flexibility, leadership, and a focus on operational excellence are key to success. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the daily activities of the Home Delivery team, coordinating resources to meet workload demands. Ensure vehicles are safely and efficiently loaded and unloaded. Maintain high accuracy in picking and packing orders. Uphold a safe working environment by implementing best practices in line with Health and Safety guidelines. Share delegated responsibilities for the Distribution Department in the absence of the Operations Manager – Transport and Logistics. Provide supervisory coverage in other warehouse areas when required. Implement the Company’s Quality Policy as outlined in the Quality and Procedures Manual. Ensure all team members adhere to relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) documented in the Quality Management System (Entropy). Manage the Assistant Team Leader and the wider team, including staff planning, recruitment, performance management, and reviews. Promote and implement 5S and Lean methodologies for continuous improvement. Maintain accurate stock control and ensure all picking locations are fully stocked using the Warehouse Management System (WMS). Implement effective stock rotation using First In, First Expiry (FIFE) principles. Enforce the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures across all operations. Participate in internal and external training as required to enhance skills and competencies. Be flexible with working hours during peak workload periods. Undertake any other reasonable tasks assigned by the company, including ad hoc projects specified by line management. Personal Specification: Leadership skills with proven experience managing a team. Ability to meet targets and work effectively under pressure. Demonstrates initiative, works independently with minimal supervision. Possesses influential and persuasive skills to motivate and guide teams. Reliable, enthusiastic, and inquisitive, with a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to tasks. Maintains a high level of accuracy in all work activities. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team player with a flexible approach. Proficient in using computers for tasks such as emails, dispatching orders, and RF gun picking. Experienced in Warehouse Management Systems, including pick, pack, dispatch, and putaway operations. Ideally have knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, including 5S, Lean, and Lean Six Sigma.
