Financial Risk Manager (Part-Time, Job-Share and Full-Time)
Location: Flexible with regular travel to the Swindon office

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Financial Risk and Insights team, helping the team shape and advance the future model for the second line oversight of financial and insurance risk. In this role, you will gain a holistic view of Zurich’s UK Life and UK P&C businesses.
The role is suited for a qualified Life or P&C actuary, or someone with equivalent numeracy skills. The role requires strong financial analysis and communication skills. It offers the opportunity to engage with a broad set of stakeholders across the UK business and Zurich Group.
The team
The Financial Risk and Insights team supports the Chief Risk Officer and works with the wider UK Risk team and Zurich Group colleagues to promote a culture of sound risk awareness, support risk identification and mitigation, and provide oversight of management’s delivery of the business strategy, aligned to the risk appetite.
The team oversees first line financial risk activity in actuarial, reinsurance, investments, proposition development and pricing, engaging with a broad set of stakeholders.
What will you be doing?
As Financial Risk Manager you will:
1. Work with a broad range of stakeholders to support the UK CRO evolve and mature the assessments of financial and insurance risks
2. Lead the climate change scenario analysis, working with the UK business and Group colleagues, looking to advance the modelling capability
3. Lead the work on emerging risks working across the Life and P&C business, and leveraging work done by the Zurich Group
4. Work collaboratively with the UK Risk team on a programme of activities to automate and simplify the Risk reporting using data visualisation and analytics tools
5. Prepare the reports that support the UK CRO chaired quarterly governance meetings to oversee financial risk and model risk
6. Maintain the UK documentation for the implementation of the Zurich Group Financial Risk Framework and Model Risk Framework
7. Collaborate with the Operational Risk and ERM team to embed in the business a strong understanding of the UK Enterprise Risk Management Framework
8. Work with the rest of the team and the first line actuarial, investment and underwriting teams to maintain the Stress and Scenario Framework improving the modelling capability and enhance the use of the Zurich Group internal model.
9. Perform trend analysis to deliver insights that support the business to understand and manage their exposures, against tolerances and appetite
10. Support the assessment of ad hoc key strategic and change initiatives
11. Providing guidance and support to the rest of the team on financial risk and model risk, working collaboratively with the wider UK and Group team
What are we looking for?
You must be a qualified Life or P&C actuary, or someone with equivalent statistical skills. You must have strong financial skills and business acumen, and a good understanding of the UK market and regulatory environment.
You will also need to demonstrate:
1. Experience or a keen interest in emerging risk and climate change risk
2. Financial risk experience, experience of solvency oversight
3. Strong analytical and data visualisation skills, including experience of using data and trend analysis to provide insight, and support judgements and recommendations
4. A passion for delivering continuous improvement, Keen interest in adopting new tools and technology to improve work effectiveness.
5. A demonstrable track record of building strong relationships, analytical curiosity and an ability to independently challenge
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders, experience of report writing for senior stakeholders
7. Self-motivated and driven to deliver to set deadlines. Motivated to take responsibility for tasks, managing expectations and stakeholders
