About the Opportunity
Jacobs’ Nuclear Power Programmes support major UK and European projects, including Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and emerging technologies like SMR (Small Modular Reactor). We are involved in building Poland's first nuclear power station and delivering critical client projects through embedded teams, providing project management expertise throughout the lifecycle.
We are seeking multiple IIA Field Engineers to join our team. The key responsibilities include:
* Perform surveillance of piping and pressure system installations, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and notify the Construction Superintendent of non-conformance issues.
* Assist in issuing non-conformance reports by submitting detailed reports of any issues.
* Maintain proactive communication with site teams, ensuring surveillance activities are reported timely.
* Contribute surveillance data to support KPI monitoring.
* Identify potential issues early to enable proactive mitigation.
* Support team instructions to implement temporary safety measures, following up with appropriate actions to prevent work stoppages.
* Ensure design decisions are made through formal processes, not in the field.
* Provide insights into current and future site activities to enhance team effectiveness.
* Develop and maintain knowledge of construction drawings, Inspection and Test Plans, and records.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Welding qualifications, or equivalent vocational training and experience.
* Broad understanding of the engineering construction industry, materials, trades, and legal standards.
* Excellent organizational, delegation, and communication skills (French language skills are advantageous).
* Experience in maintaining accurate, relevant diaries within large construction teams.
* Attention to detail and ability to uphold quality standards under pressure.
* Ability to build effective relationships with contractors.
* Knowledge of relevant British & European standards, codes, and guidelines such as RCC-M, BS EN, and ASME.
* Understanding of safety-critical documentation like Inspection and Test Plans and End of Erection Status Reports.
* Experience or study in metallurgy, welding, and NDT, with a background in weld inspection on large projects.
Desirable:
* Welding inspector qualification (e.g., CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent) and NDT qualification (e.g., PCN).
* Higher qualifications in welding (CSWIP 3.2, IWS) and NDT (PCN or equivalent).
* Experience in power plant design, manufacture, and construction.
* Knowledge of Quality Management practices and pressure system fabrication and installation.
Join us to be part of a forward-thinking team delivering critical nuclear projects with safety, quality, and innovation at the forefront.
