The Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be integral to the support system for students with SEMH needs. Your role will involve working closely with students to provide tailored interventions, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant: Develop and implement individualised learning and support plans for students with SEMH needs. Provide one-on-one and group support to students, focusing on their academic, emotional and social development. Collaborate with teachers to adapt and differentiate lesson plans and activities to meet the needs of Social, Emotional and Mental Health students. Track and monitor students' progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed. Create a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement. Communicate effectively with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in SEMH support. The successful candidate will: Proven experience working with students with SEMH challenges in an educational setting. A relevant qualification in supporting children with SEMH needs, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous. Strong understanding of the complexities and needs of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff. A patient, compassionate and resilient approach to supporting students with complex needs. Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. A commitment to continuous professional development and safeguarding the well-being of children and young people. A collaborative and proactive attitude, with a willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
