Full-Time SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Location: Rochester, Medway Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Monday to Friday) Contract Type: Temp to Perm (Long term) Agency: Teaching Personnel Job Description: Teaching Personnel is excited to present an excellent opportunity for a Full-Time SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Rochester, Medway. This role will see you supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a primary focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), from mild to more severe cases. You will play a vital role in ensuring students have the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. As a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with ASD, adapting your approach based on individual needs. Assisting in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans. Supporting students with their academic work, ensuring understanding and engagement in the classroom. Encouraging positive social interactions and promoting emotional wellbeing. Helping students develop independence, life skills, and coping strategies. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff to track progress and develop effective strategies for learning and behaviour management. Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and can bring patience, empathy, and dedication to the role. The ideal candidate will: Have a genuine interest in working with children with ASD and other SEN. Be confident in supporting students with varying needs, from mild to severe ASD. Have previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar educational support role (desirable but not essential). Be able to adapt to different learning styles and use creative strategies to engage students. Have strong communication skills and be comfortable working as part of a collaborative team. Be proactive, patient, and flexible, with the ability to stay calm in challenging situations. A teaching assistant qualification (or similar) is desirable but not required.
