Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the innovative and expanding Mental Health Team at HMP Buckley Hall. We want to recruit an enthusiastic Health and Wellbeing Practitioner to help us transform the service we offer our residents.
HMP Buckley Hall is a Male Cat C prison located in Rochdale.
The Mental Health service combines Primary and secondary care services across an integrated stepped care model. Having successfully retained the contract to deliver MH services at Buckley Hall we have the opportunity to expand and innovate.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to shape our service and positively affect the lives of some of our most marginalized and hard to reach community members.
All applicants MUST have been resident in the UK for the last two years - NPPS cannot complete enhanced background checks otherwise.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded and innovative mental health service inside HMP Buckley Hall. The service principles are based around social therapy, and we have an extensive offer of social prescribing activities that the successful applicant will help facilitate and develop. As such, an interest or talent in creative arts, crafts or horticulture would be an advantage, as would a knowledge of Core CBT skills and the ability to deliver low intensity psychologically informed interventions for anxiety and depression.
The post holder will work with and support the mental health team. You will be proficient, competent and require minimum direct supervision in achieving the following:
* Working in close proximity with mental health service users and their carers where appropriate.
* Working flexibly and responsively to provide support and assistance to meet the assessed mental health needs of the service and service users.
* Working collaboratively across a range of disciplines to continuously develop expertise in assisting team members to achieve positive health care outcomes for service users.
* Promoting the health, well being and mental health of service users and carers.
* Promoting the development of the role to support and promote skill mix and workforce modernization within their service areas.
* Facilitating and developing group therapies/activities.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) when writing job applications
A candidate may utilize the help of AI when writing job applications. The assessment of an application is made on its entirety and most times AI-generated content does not fully grasp the context and requirements of the job one applies for, thus producing inaccurate and misleading information, especially in the supporting statement section of an application that can lack real-life examples of one’s achievements, success, and challenges.
We have added a disclaimer to our application process advising that the use of AI is monitored. GMMH reserves the right to follow up with a candidate at the interview on specific responses and those examples used in the supporting statement to explore it further.
Sponsorship
We are proud to be an approved sponsor for the Skilled Worker visa. Applications from individuals who require sponsorship will be considered alongside all other applications. Please be aware that not all roles are eligible for sponsorship. You can review the list of eligible roles and salary requirements on the UK Government’s website – click here.
If you are offered a role with us and you require sponsorship, we will check your eligibility in line with the information on the above website.
