Job summary Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapists are responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services to children and young people with a wide range of conditions. This role involves working autonomously, assessing, diagnosing, and treating children with physical disabilities, developmental delays, and complex conditions, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in community and acute settings. The post holder is required to provide inpatient respiratory provision. You will manage a defined caseload, using evidence based / client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate and record outcomes. You will also contribute to the development of the Paediatric Physiotherapy Service as well as clinically support students on placement and junior staff members. This permanent post consists of 9-month rotations, across Heartlands, Goodhope, and Solihull hospital sites and Solihull Community. This post is based at our Heartlands site, however, as the Trust is a multi-site organisation you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites and may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis because of development or reorganisation of Trust services. Applicants will be required to participate in the departmental respiratory adult and paediatric overnight on-call system and 7 day working rota within the adult and paediatric respiratory therapy teams. Main duties of the job To exercise professional autonomy, assimilating and analysing complex information and interpretation of data, to implement treatment or management strategies. Integration of evidence-based practice through advanced clinical reasoning and decision making. To evaluate clinical and social information from a range of sources and integrate this into physiotherapy assessment and treatment. To undertake risk assessment of lone working and aspects of treatment and safety in the work environment. Demonstrate a high degree of specialist paediatric expertise in therapeutic handling and positioning, communicating complex and sensitive information appropriately for patients and carers regarding expectations and realistic goals. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation to gain informed consent, including from patients experiencing adversity. Responsibly discuss child protection concerns with parents/carers, reporting to the appropriate agency. To work in accordance with the CSP and HCPC rules of Professional Conduct. To provide specialist advice on patient care to other heath, social, education, and voluntary sector services. To advise the Clinical Leader of Physiotherapy of any circumstances which give cause for concern in relation to patient care, health and safety.
