Join our practice team in one of the most beautiful and popular locations in the Highlands of Scotland, based in Carbost and also South Skye Medical Practice, Isle of Skye. The Carbost Medical Practice is a dispensing practice covering approximately 650 patients who are scattered across a wide geographical area. Although based in a rural location, we have excellent support from the local hospital in Broadford (just 25 miles away) but ideally, seeking GPs with experience in remote and rural practice; including skills such as pre-hospital emergency care (BASICS), ALS, PLS and palliative care. There is no Out of Hours commitment with this post.
The post is based mainly at Carbost but shifts will be undertaken at Broadford Medical Practice, which covers Sleat, and Small Isles, so offers a multitude of opportunities, the post will cover on a rotational basis.
You would join our team consisting of two experienced dispensing receptionists, Health Care Assistants, Admin/Receptionists, Practice Manager, Practice Nurses and an ANP, as well as several other GP colleagues. The Practice is also supported by pharmacy colleagues and First Contact Physiotherapists.
There is an excellent wider team across the island of community nurses, health visitors, nurse specialists, hospital practitioners and midwives, just to name a few. You don't have to do any out of hours and with approx. 650 patients (in Carbost) you get to know them and have continuity of care. Better still are the 15min appointments, available on the day appointments, options for telephone consultations, and a huge range of presentations.
Skye is a very safe place to live and has a vibrant community. In Carbost, there is a shop, post office, primary school and pub, as well as the doctor's surgery. You have amazing scenery on your doorstep, lots of outdoor activities and opportunities, or you can just chill and enjoy a calm and relaxed lifestyle. You could join in with the mountain rescue team, or learn the Gaelic language. It’s a great place to bring up a family or to spend time on your own. This is complimented by Portree and Broadford that offer a wider range of retail and adventure activities.
You may be looking for flexible ways to achieve your work/lifestyle balance and we are open to discussions if this post interests you.
