Applications are invited for a Guaranteed Hours (GH), open-ended contract as a Tutor in Design on the following course:
DESI11199 dLab(5): Design for Political Change (84 hours)
The Opportunity:
We are seeking to appoint a Tutor with a background in design practice and/or theory or, alternatively, in social and political sciences to assist with teaching, assessment and feedback on the Semester 2 20-credit course dLab(5): Design for Political Change, which is part of the Design Labs compulsory course suite (i.e. dLabs) on the MA Design for Change Programme.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Either (A) a practising designer, design theorist, or design educator with professional experience in their field and a demonstrable focus on the discipline’s socio-cultural, political, and environmental dimensions; or (B) a social or political scientist with professional experience in their field and a demonstrable interest in material practices and design-led processes.
High level of critical reflexivity and understanding of theories and processes of change
A well-rounded appreciation of design practice’s socio-political implications, evidenced by an interest and – ideally – literacy in both participatory design methods as well as political discourse and modes of activism
Ability to work within a team with a collegial attitude, respect and sensitivity toward students and other staff members.
Ability to enthusiastically engage with and support postgraduate students from a diversity of cultural and educational backgrounds in the development of their own ideas and visions of design-led change
