Net Zero Carbon and Sustainability Manager
Job Introduction
Are you passionate about sustainability and making a real impact? We are looking for a Net Zero Carbon & Sustainability Manager to lead the development and delivery of the HMRC Net Zero Carbon Reduction Plan. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with sustainability policies, monitoring energy and environmental performance, and driving innovative carbon reduction strategies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage HMRC’s Net Zero Carbon Reduction Plan, aligning with government sustainability targets
* Monitor and report on carbon emissions (Scopes 1, 2 & 3), energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives
* Conduct environmental audits and ensure compliance with legislation such as the Greening Government Commitments
* Work closely with stakeholders to drive responsible procurement and sustainability best practices
* Develop and implement decarbonisation and energy efficiency strategies
* Provide oversight on energy projects, ensuring return on investment and successful outcomes
* Represent the organisation at external meetings and industry events
What We’re Looking For
* Professional membership: IEMA (Practitioner) or Energy Institute (Member level) or equivalent
* Expertise in carbon accounting and reporting (Scopes 1, 2 & 3)
* 5+ years of experience in sustainability, particularly in buildings/facilities management
* Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 50001, BREEAM, and low-carbon technologies
* Experience in waste management, utilities data analysis, and energy monitoring
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
* Proficiency in MS 365, CAFM/CMMS, and Power BI
