Job Description:
Ibk is a community based, not-for-profit social enterprise with over 20 years’ experience of providing Direct Payment Support to families, children and adults of all ages with a range of needs. We provide a bespoke matching service, finding the right PA for the right person.
We are currently working with a gentleman who is looking to recruit a PA to join his small, dedicated team. This role centres around working with a disabled man at home, and to access work and holidays. This is an exciting and innovative role that requires an open minded individual, willing to commit to this post. This gentleman lives a full life and works across various organisations as a disability equality trainer.

You will gradually become part of this small team, organising this gentleman’s everyday needs, which will include:
1. Managing emails and work deadlines
2. Support to attend GP appointments and order prescriptions
3. Preparing nutritious meals
Central to this role will also be learning and facilitating this gentleman’s non-verbal communication.
Hours: 48 hours per week (Saturdays 9am - Sunday 9am). The ability to cover holidays and sickness and offer flexibility is essential to the role.
Please note: there is an expectation that this will be the only role you commit to, to ensure adequate cover and flexibility.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Willing to learn from this person and his support network
* Be friendly, reliable, honest; and maintain confidentiality
* Be respectful in the gentleman’s home
* Have a good sense of humour
* Willing to undertake any training required for the role
* Be physically able to carry out the role as described
* Be patient and resilient
* Be open minded and person centred in your approach
* A car driver with a clean license and use of a car
* A non-smoker
Desirable:
* You may have interests, hobbies and skills you could share with this person
* Experience of non-verbal communication
* Knowledge of the Social Model of Disability
* Confidence to speak in public when supporting this gentleman at events
Rate of pay: £16 per hour (Night rate 9pm-9am: £138)
