Our Local Authority client based in the West Midlands, is currently recruiting for a Democratic Services Team Leader on a locum basis for 12-months initially.
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, and is offering an hourly rate in the region of £40 p/hour UMB.
The ideal candidate will have experience of people management within a Democratic Services environment.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Managing the Democracy and Scrutiny Team, ensuring high-quality service delivery for democratic functions and scrutiny tasks
* Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team, including recruitment, training, development and performance appraisals
* Ensuring statutory services related to democratic functions, including meetings, agendas, minutes, and access to information, are provided to the public
* Providing advice and support to elected members, including the Leader of the Council, the Cabinet, and Mayor/Deputy Mayor on constitutional matters, council meeting procedures, and civic duties
* Supporting all Council meetings, including preparing agendas, liaising with committee chairs, managing report timetables, and ensuring statutory compliance
* Coordinate member development and training programs
* Managing scrutiny projects, and providing support for formal and informal meetings of the Scrutiny Committee
