Job summary Band 6 Advanced Theatre Scrub Practitioner - General & Emergency Theatres This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours over 7 days inclusive of weekends, evenings and internal night rotation. Entry Requirements: NMC registered nurse or HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP). The hospital has twenty one operating theatres with four satellite theatres covering multiple specialities. The General theatre department comprises of five theatres one of which is a designated 24/7 emergency theatre, covering all specialities. The Royal Berkshire Hospital is the largest centre for bariatric surgery within the Thames Valley. We are the only centre performing robotics for both bariatric and colorectal surgery. Main duties of the job We are looking for a highly motivated theatre practitioner with experience in general and emergency procedures. You will have proven clinical leadership skills to work within our busy operating theatre department. Although the position is based in general and emergency theatres, you will have the opportunity to work across all specialities. You should be motivated and enthusiastic about your own professional development and keen to enhance your skills and competencies within the team. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the support of students within the theatre department upon completion of their orientation. You work closely with our Practice Educator and the Clinical Leads for general and emergency theatres to ensure that the training and development needs of the band 5 nurses are supported. As a professional role model, you will provide a high standard of evidence based clinical leadership and practice development to support our team of skilled professionals. You will be expected to work closely with the surgical team, assisting in implementing practice change where required and contributing to the control of consumables and making cost savings in line with Trust demands.
