We are looking for Junior System Engineers to join our growing organisation. You will become part of a team of experienced and highly competent System Engineers, and you will be able to learn from them and grow into the role of System Engineer.
As a Junior System Engineer, you will interact with the other System Engineers and help with the technical part of projects. The candidate we seek is a team player with initiative and interpersonal skills. You have a broad technical background and work in a structured way.
As a Junior Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the infrastructure strategy, overseeing and implementing projects and supporting all hardware infrastructure systems, software, and peripherals. The role's primary purpose is to provide a stable and secure systems infrastructure, including hardware and software. The Junior Systems Engineer will work as a team to support, investigate, and resolve infrastructure-related requests and projects.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
• Providing project, network and systems support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence over the phone, via remote access and in person.
• Providing support for solutions such as Office 365, Google Workspace, backup & DR technology.
• Provide support of the college network (WAN & LAN), including firewalls, routers, wifi and all network links.
• Provide support of the college IT infrastructure, including the hypervisor environment, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Domain Trusts etc.
• Assist with evaluating, implementing, configuring and testing new servers, products and services.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for IT Service Desk incident requests and perform initial troubleshooting for servers and their applications, as required.
• Assist with server backup monitoring and verification.
• Assist in patching and updating allocated Windows server systems, including Adobe Update, Security Updates, Firmware updates, etc.
• Assist with deploying new equipment, software and solutions (and repurposing of existing equipment) for Infrastructure Projects.
• Assist with preparing, installing, configuring and rolling new software, hardware and solutions.
• Maintaining high levels of customer service for all support queries, including telephone calls, emails, and IT requests logged via the IT Service Desk system.
• Support infrastructure services, including troubleshooting software and hardware problems and the repair of non-warranty technology.
• Maintain awareness of key technologies to ensure optimal use of resources.
• To ensure Key Performance Indicators and Service Level agreements, project milestones and deadlines are adhered to.
