Location: We are looking for 3 apprentices to cover the North Yorkshire area.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for Apprentice Field Technicians to join the Field Operations Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Field Operations are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
Our Field Operations Team are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the clean water network and associated assets, providing excellent service 365 days a year to over 5 million customers across the Yorkshire Region, ensuring that all above ground assets such as Service Reservoirs, Water Pumping Stations and Water Towers operating efficiently. The role is both pro-active through ensuring assets are maintained and reactive through responding to break downs and Asset failure. The Field Operations Team are essential in the delivery of clean wholesome water.
Where you fit in: As our Apprentice Field Technician you will work to develop your competence in:
* Operation, Maintenance and Optimisation of the Clean Water Network.
* Operation, Maintenance and Optimisation of our Above Ground Assets; Service Reservoirs, Water Pumping Stations and Water Towers. Understanding the asset and its operation, and its connectivity and impact upon the Water Network.
* Proactive operation of the Assets to ensure failure is minimised and completing cyclical maintenance checks as part of the proactive work basket.
* Providing excellent service and resolution of issues raised by our customers.
* Responding to Asset Failure, understanding the impact of that failure, and responding appropriately to resolve. This can involve working with other specialists to get the operation back up and running.
* The use of corporate systems to understand risk and optimise performance. This includes understanding different alarms, their meaning and how to respond to them.
* You will be part of a team but also be expected to work alone.
What apprenticeship standard will you study and who will be your training provider: Our Field Technician Apprentices have lots to learn about Maintaining, repairing and carrying out works on a variety of large-scale water assets and therefore our apprentices study the level 3 Water Industry Network Technician. This is delivered through Watertrain, a leading training provider specialising in Apprenticeships for the Water Industry. Training will be delivered from one of our Yorkshire Water Academy Training sites throughout your Apprenticeship.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* To hold or be predicted 5 GCSEs or equivalent grade 4 and above/ A-C including English & Mathematics. You will be required to provide certificates/evidence of these if you are successful.
* Be I.T. literate and have the ability to learn how to use some of our complex I.T. systems.
* Have a positive attitude when working alongside internal and external customers.
* A full U.K driving licence.
This role has a requirement to carry out occasional work in confined spaces so the successful completion of a medical performed by our Occupational Health Department and the relevant training course is essential. The successful candidate must pass strict medical criteria including, BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests to ensure your full safety when working in hazardous environments.
