With recent changes from the ending of a shared service, this is your chance to drive the future of risk management for our ambitious and thriving borough. Islington boasts a talented leadership team and a commitment to excellence in all facets of governance. Our Council’s five missions drive everything we do: Child Friendly, Community Wealth Building, Empowering People, A Safe Place to Call Home, and Greener, Healthier Islington. As our Risk Manager, you will play a critical role in safeguarding these strategic priorities through robust risk management practices. Manage: Ensure our Risk Management function is economic, efficient, and effective, meeting statutory requirements and best practices. Review: Monitor the Corporate Risk Management Framework and standard procedures to control and oversee the risk management process. Implement: Embed formal risk management throughout the council by implementing and monitoring our corporate Risk Management Strategy, Framework, and linked processes. Advise: Provide advice and training to Service Managers on relevant legislative requirements and best practice guidelines in risk management. Contribute: Support the Council’s Anti-Fraud and Corruption Strategy by ensuring fraud risk is effectively identified and incorporated into service risk registers. Develop: Create systems and procedures to foster a more ‘risk-enabled’ culture within the council. You will be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking leadership team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of risk management for the borough. Why join us? You will work in a supportive environment that embodies our values of collaboration, ambition, resourcefulness, and empowerment.
