An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our amazing corporate team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS FT. In this pivotal role, you will provide strong leadership to the Corporate Governance, Risk & Assurance Team, responsible for delivery of best corporate governance practice and the Trust’s Risk Management Policy/Risk Management Framework.
You will have an in-depth professional knowledge of corporate governance structures, procedures and practice in relation to the health and social care sector and, ideally, have experience of governance in system working. You will use this knowledge to support the interaction between the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors and across the different Board Committees and contribute to ensuring actions from these are followed through. You will also lead on the development of arrangements for the Council of Governors, including managing the Membership Office, ensuring that it fulfills its statutory responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on and self-motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our dynamic team. You will be required to liaise closely and effectively with internal colleagues as well as with external partners in order to deliver a range of functions including supporting key corporate meetings, risk management and managing conflicts of interest.

We employ almost 5,500 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs, you will also work closely with the Chief Executive, Trust Chair, Board of Directors and Council of Governors. As a key member of the corporate team, your role will involve extensive collaboration with all Directors and the senior leaders of the Trust.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Postgraduate level qualification or equivalent in relevant subject or significant specialist knowledge
* Professional qualification in corporate governance/qualified Company Secretary
Experience
* 5 Years substantial experience of corporate governance legislation and best practice, and risk management
* Experience of working with and influencing senior staff, and of providing credible advice to colleagues
* Experience of ensuring effective mechanisms and administrative support are provided to Boards and Committees
Skills
* Highly developed professional knowledge and experience across a range of disciplines, including NHS corporate governance, risk management and regulatory functions
* Planning and organising a broad range of complex activities, which require formulation, adjustment to meet changing needs
* Evidence of skill in maintaining good working relationships across organisational boundaries and with people from wide range of personal and professional backgrounds
* Ability to innovate and think laterally
* Ability to work flexibly with high degree of autonomy, use own initiative and act without direct supervision, and make informed decisions
