Their focus is on CHP backup power, and they are well established within their industry. Role Overview: Design Manager (hybrid) Joining their dynamic team based in the Northwest of England, my client is looking for an experienced Design Manager to manage a team of designers, mechanical & process engineers. In this role you'll be responsible for the design of Tri-generation and CHP systems, managing projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will be resilient, a strong multitasker and comfortable taking on differing responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: · Manage a 7-strong team of designers, mechanical & process engineers. Part of this management will be contributing to team expansion, identifying skill gaps in the team and training up where necessary. · Responsible for the design of Process Flow diagrams, Process and Instrumentation diagrams, alongside Technical & Functional Design Specifications. · Responsible for design of heat recovery, heat rejection, hot water, chilled water, steam, fuel & noise attenuation systems. · Responsible for design spec, selection and requisition of materials & plant for build of CHP/Tri-generator systems. · Responsible for the creation of schematic drawings, equipment schedules alongside electrical designs. · Responsible for liaising with stakeholders on a frequent basis. Key Requirements: · A proven mechanical design engineering bias. · HNC/HND qualified as a minimum within mechanical engineering. · Proven experience in an engineering design management position. Desirable requirements: · Experience with process design on CHP or Tri-generation systems. · Design experience with fuel, cooling & thermo systems will be favoured if you work outside of CHP/Tri-generation. · The client will consider CHP and tri-generation engineering/project managers with strong design experience. · The client will also consider design managers from other sectors, ideally: pharmaceutical, utilities, biogas, industrial, renewable, petrochemicals.
