Job Description
We are seeking a part-time support worker/team leader in the Burwell, Cambridge area for 20 hours per week. The hours will follow a rotating schedule, so the working days may vary each week; this can be discussed further during the interview. The work hours will be between 9:30am and 6:30pm. The pay rate is £14.40 per hour and £15.05 per hour at weekends. Team leaders will also receive an additional £173 per month.
Our client is a charming gentleman in his 70s who sustained a traumatic brain injury and orthopaedic injuries in a road traffic accident. A lifelong resident of Cambridge, he is well-travelled and enjoys staying informed about news, politics, and current affairs. He appreciates engaging in conversations about these topics, as well as history and the places he has visited. He also loves going out to different places for lunch and coffee.
Our client, who has dysarthria, sometimes finds communication challenging. Therefore, support workers should be patient, have a strong command of English, and possess excellent communication skills.
Support is needed to help our client engage in community activities, including social, leisure, and exercise pursuits. Assistance with domestic tasks such as cleaning, food preparation, laundry, and ironing is also required. While our client is generally mobile, his mobility decreases when he is fatigued, necessitating the use of an attendant-propelled wheelchair outdoors. You will work under the guidance of medical personnel, therapists, and other professionals to assist with prescribed treatment and rehabilitation programs, which will include managing dressings as an when required.
As the team leader, your responsibilities will include:
* Conducting quality checks of support worker tasks and notes
* Organizing and chairing team meetings
* Checking and authorising monthly timesheets
* Approving annual leave and arranging cover as needed
* Serving as the point of contact for staff regarding sick leave
* Completing monthly well-being audits
* Participating in the recruitment and induction of new staff
For this role, you will need to drive our client's adapted motability vehicle. Additionally, you will have access to a vehicle due to the clients village location, as there are limited transport links.

Essential Requirements Identified for this Role:
* An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense to be met by HomeCareDirect)
* You must be a driver aged 25yrs (for insurance purposes) or over with a full, UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle due to the location of the client
* Good use of and understanding of English and communication skills due to client needs
* Prepared to commit to long term care for one client in a 'person-centred' way
* Willing to be trained to CQC standards to meet the client's needs
