Position: Global Health & Safety Manager
Location: Full time 5 days/week in central London (Office near St Paul’s Cathedral)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time, office-based (5 days a week)
Salary: Approximately £80,000 per annum
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Global Health & Safety Manager for an embedded position within a leading global financial institution, based in central London. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional with a proven track record in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety management systems to join a vibrant and dynamic team.
As the Global Health & Safety Manager, you will act as the primary point of contact between the embedded team in the UK and the customer’s Global Health & Safety Lead. Your responsibilities will encompass supporting the rollout of compliance initiatives, managing health and safety programmes, and providing subject matter expertise on UK Health & Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Global Health & Safety Lead in implementing new compliance and best management practices across the organisation.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on UK Health & Safety regulations, addressing queries from the customer and the embedded team while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and internal standards.
- Oversee all people-related tasks, including employee engagement, career development, and welfare.
- Project manage contractual service delivery, including reporting and alignment with SLAs and KPIs.
- Coordinate and quality-control legislative audits in collaboration with the client's resources.
- Lead health and safety management system enhancement projects from start to finish.
- Maintain and update internal HS standards and procedures.
- Provide guidance at periodic functional meetings, including Hospitality and Facilities Management.
- Assist with Gap Analysis, strategy development, and compliance reviews.
- Oversee accident and incident investigations, including managing regulatory reporting requirements.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Chartered Member of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health).
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
- Level 6 Health & Safety qualification (e.g., National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent).
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, asbestos, and construction safety.
- Familiarity with H&S legislation across EMEA, Asia Pacific, and the Americas.
- Experience in embedded roles and construction safety.
- Previous people management experience.
- Demonstrable experience in H&S roles, with exposure to diverse health and safety management systems.
- Extensive knowledge of UK H&S legislation and its practical implementation.
- Experience addressing a variety of safety and health risks.
- Competence in presenting to senior management and diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and retain employees while fostering their success.
- Strong track record in incident investigations, including RIDDOR-related cases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
