The Shop Foreman repairs and performs maintenance on various types of equipment ranging from heavy duty equipment, vehicles, and small equipment. This position is responsible for managing a diverse team of technicians to ensure repairs and services are performed safely and in a timely manner.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Ensures shop/equipment safety and productivity standards are achieved
2. Responsible for working both independently and alongside a team of technicians
3. Ensures oversight of Preventative Maintenance program (PM)
4. Develops technician's skills and helps prepare a yearly training plan for all technicians
5. Controls shop expenses including repairs/services from external vendors
6. Monitors all Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections and requirements pertaining to assets
7. Conducts audits pertaining to work-orders and part allocation for assets
8. Responsible for reviewing daily vehicle inspection reports and repair orders
9. Manages all external repairs to ensure best practices and pricing to protect company interests
10. Oversees and audits parts inventory and sets required levels of inventory stock
11. Is available to repair assets as needed to ensure critical equipment is available for use
12. Maintains a clean and organized working environment and is responsible for coordinating all repairs of the facility he/she oversees

Experience and Education:
1. Previous experience in shop management preferred
2. Previous experience working on heavy machinery
3. One year of basic technical knowledge and experience with management software, preferably Fleet Management Software
4. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis
5. Exceptional time management skills
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
1. Possession of a valid State Driver’s License is required
2. Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job, and pass a pre-employment drug screen
