An exciting opportunity has become available for a band 6 senior staff nurse within the clinical decisions unit (CDU) in the royal hospital for children. CDU is a 19 bedded receiving unit for children up to age 16. The unit receives directly from the emergency department, accepts GP referrals and clinic patients of all specialities and acuities. The unit is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The successful candidate would be responsible predominantly for assuming the role of nurse in charge, for the safe running of the department, coordinating patient flow out of the department, supporting junior staff and maximising skill to provide individualised patient centred care.
