Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental practice. Duties
* Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and ready for use.
* Provide exceptional patient care by reassuring patients, answering their questions, and ensuring their comfort throughout procedures.
* Maintain accurate patient records using IT systems, ensuring all information is up-to-date and confidential.
* Sterilise instruments and maintain cleanliness in the treatment areas to adhere to health and safety regulations.
* Manage appointment schedules and coordinate patient follow-ups to optimise clinic efficiency.
* Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
* Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care.
Responsibilities
* Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures.
* Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
* Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
* Order and maintain dental supplies and inventory.
* Perform dental nursing of exceptional quality, aiding each dentist, hygienist, or therapist in all procedures while adhering strictly to the 'Code of Ethics' outlined by the British Association of Dental Nurses and the GDC's 'Scope of Practice.'
* Ensure the clinical environment, including equipment, is meticulously prepared and maintained.
* Implement stringent infection-control measures to prevent any form of physical, chemical, or microbiological contamination within the surgery or laboratory.
* Document dental charting and maintain comprehensive and precise patient records at all times.
* Prepare, mix, and manage dental materials efficiently.
* Arrange equipment, materials, and patients for dental radiography procedures and handle the processing of dental radiographs proficiently.
* Offer monitoring, support, and reassurance to patients throughout their treatment and provide suitable guidance and advice to patients as needed.
* Facilitate appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
* Minimum of one year experience in dental assisting.
* Valid GDC registration.
* Ability to commute or relocate to Barnsley.
* Work authorization in the United Kingdom.
